I'm Getting Moisture Around My Windows. What Can I do? Ask the Expert 384

My house is all electric. I have a dehumidifier in the basement, but still get moisture around the inside of the windows. What can I do?

Danowski, what do you think Tom should do about the moisture? If you're still getting water around your windows despite using a dehumidifier, try out these tips! Check your Dehumidifier - Make sure your dehumidifier is the right size for your space. A unit too small might struggle to effectively control humidity. Check and adjust the settings to match your specific needs. Dehumidifier Settings - Is your dehumidifier set to the correct humidity level for your home? What IS the correct humidity level? Aim for a relative humidity level between 30-50%. Weather Stripping - Adding weather stripping around windows is a simple, effective way to seal gaps and prevent outside air and humidity. This can help moisture control and can contribute to energy efficiency. Ventilation - Proper ventilation is crucial in reducing excess moisture. You can use fans, open doors, (if weather permits) open windows. In conclusion, if these tips don't do the trick, you may have to call a professional to assess the situation!
