What Does the R32 Transition Mean For You?

Hey! Welcome to The Cold Standard with IWAE! This is a common question I hear as an HVAC expert. More and more people are hearing that R410A is being phased out, but why?

There’s multiple reasons for this transition, but the biggest one is that environmental regulations are changing. To combat climate change, regulations on refrigerants have changed, so the industry is moving toward options that have a low GWP, and R32 is a great solution.

We’re also seeing a lot of technological advancements in the HVAC industry. Switching to R32 in combination with these advancements leads to better performance and efficiency, which is what you want to see as a homeowner. In the immediate future, if your system is not already using R32, you may see increased prices and difficulty with getting repairs done to your existing system. It’s a good idea to start thinking about the switch to R32 or another one of the low GWP refrigerants. Check out our other videos for more information on the switch and what’s right for you.
