Geothermal Air Handlers (Central Split Systems)
A traditional air handling unit can be a great addition to a geothermal split system. The air handler integrates with a geothermal condenser much like it would a conventional air conditioner or air-source heat pump condenser. The air handler distributes the conditioned air throughout the environment while the buried ground loop maintains consistent efficiency year round. An existing air handler could be modified for use with a new geothermal installation, but we recommend homeowners purchase a model optimized for ground-source applications.
