The refrigerant in this system is factory-charged R410-A, an environmentally friendly choice that does not damage the ozone layer like more traditional refrigerants. A condenser fan, compressor contactor, low and high pressure switches, and a thermostatic expansion valve, or TXV, control the R-410A refrigerant.

The scroll compressor in this Trane RunTru Central Heat Pump Condenser has both overcurrent and over temperature protection to ensure the unit runs safely. This heat pump condenser features an all-aluminum condenser coil that efficiently transfers heat and provides low airflow resistance.
