Overview

The stout and sturdy Defender wood stove, like the TR001 from Vogelzang, is a great way to deliver powerful heat while maintaining a classic appeal. Made from reinforced plate steel, this gorgeous wood burning stove features a heavy cast iron door with an air washed ceramic glass center to allow unobstructed viewing. It makes an excellent centerpiece for a family room, den, or formal dining room.

Of course, the Vogelzang Defender wood stove does more than simply look great. Heating efficiency is important too. Which is why this wood stove relies on an airtight, sophisticated design. First, a primary air inlet located on the face of the stove feeds the flames when burning begins. Second, a subsidiary air inlet on the other side of the firebox maintains a supply of air to the top of the stove via triple ignition tubes positioned above the fuel source. This ensures that the wood burns on both top and bottom for maximum consumption. This method is so effective that it makes the Defender wood stove an EPA-Approved product that is over 75% efficient.

Aesthetics and efficiency are important, but the Defender wood stove also delivers in terms of raw heating power. This little wood burning stove can produce up to 68,000 BTUs to provide comfort for over 1,200 square feet. That’s enough to cover much of even a very large home. Plus, this heater comes standard with adjustable legs, thick firebrick lining and pewter trim accents (blower NOT included alternative will be TR001B). It is safety tested to UL Standard 1482-2010 (USA) and ULC-S627-00 (CANADA).

In short, those homeowners looking to invest in a wood stove for their home will not go wrong with the Vogelzang Defender wood stove. This is a beautiful, classic design with a lot of power and a lot of features. There are more expensive stoves available, but few that come with everything the Defender wood stove has to offer.
