Overview

Multi-Zone MrCool DIY 18k BTU 2-Zone Mini Split - An AC system you can install yourself!

Heat or cool dual zones with the MrCool DIY 18k BTU 22 SEER 2-Zone Ductless Heat Pump Split System - 9k+9k. This DIY Series multi-zone product features easy installation that requires no special tools or training. You can get the air comfort of your preference thanks to the condenser’s 18,000 BTU capacity. The twin indoor air handlers can transform that power to heat and cool up to approximately 400 square feet with their own 9,000 BTU heating capacity. A heat pump by design, this ductless HVAC solution reverses the air conditioning process to pull in heat from the outdoors when in a heating mode.

The MrCool DIY 18k BTU 22 SEER 2-Zone Ductless Heat Pump Split System - 9k+9k units are easy to install and require no special training or expensive specialty tools. The DIY system includes Quick Connect lines that are pre-charged with eco-friendly R-410A refrigerant. With a Quick Connect line set, you don’t have to call an HVAC technician to complete the installation process.

The MrCool DIY 18k BTU 22 SEER 2-Zone Ductless Heat Pump Split System - 9k+9k can cool through the heat, heat through the cold, and dehumidify through the wet. Plus, you are always able to check the temperature of a room in your home from the easy to read digital display or from the MrCool Smart Controller mobile app. The display on the front of each unit can also display troubleshooting codes and alerts, so you are always aware of any issues with your system. Operate each unit wirelessly with either the included remote or with the MrCool Smart Controller app for Apple or Android devices. You can also control your unit with Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

The two MrCool DIY Multi-Zone air handlers included in this set provide directional control of the heated or cooled air. This distributes the air evenly so everyone in the room can stay comfortable. If you are in a situation that requires forced cooling, you can set your MrCool DIY System to manual with the button located on the right side of the unit under the front panel. In this emergency operation mode, you can test the cooling operation of your unit after installation or to complete a maintenance task.

In auto mode, each unit provides air for your home at your desired comfort level. Set your desired temperature, and the HVAC unit will determine how much heat or air conditioning is needed. You can also set this system to a drying function, which will continue to control the space’s air temperature while dehumidifying.

Use the sleep mode at night to save money on your utilities bills and use less energy. Sleep mode operates in an 8 hour window once turned on. In each of the first two hours within this window, the unit will drop or rise to a more moderate temperature by 2°F. For the remaining six hours, the unit functions at that more moderate temperature, keeping you comfortable enough as you sleep but reducing your energy usage.

The MrCool DIY 18k BTU 22 SEER 2-Zone Ductless Heat Pump Split System - 9k+9k comes with many options, so you can customize your system based on your needs. Limit your energy usage and save money on your utility bill by using the system’s timer function. If your system begins to run low on refrigerant, an alert will appear on the easy-to-read display on the front of each air handler, letting you know there may be a leak. If you desire to keep a room quiet and minimize lighted alerts, you can mute each indoor unit. By muting the system, the buzzer for alerts will not sound and the LED lit display will turn off. Should the unfortunate event of a power outage occur, the MrCool system will automatically shut off and then back on with the same settings once power returns.

Easily maintain this MrCool DIY 18k BTU 22 SEER 2-Zone Ductless Heat Pump Split System - 9k+9k with alerts and reminders. Any troubleshooting codes will appear on the front display and the user manual contains an index for common codes. Air filter cleaning alerts are automatic, and you can easily keep the minimal indoor units clean with a dry or damp cloth.

Q & A

Do you have questions about this product?

Sort by ASC
I like your system , however it seems to be much higher in cost than other units
of the same size that I have seen. Is there an explanation for that , better quality ,etc.?
Some of the others actually have longer warranties. Looking forward to your response
as I am ready to purchase.

Thank you, Harry Pilkington (540)595-2958
I have a 2 bedroom house with living room/kitchen (3 rooms total). Sq footage is only 650 sq ft. Should I get this unit and place them in the bedrooms, or get the 3 unit system which will be way oversized? If I stick with this system and leave the bedroom doors open during the day, I'm imagining it may work. Thoughts?
If I buy the dual unit each room can control the temperature to their desire? Also to my understanding you cannot heat one room and cool off another room with the dual split unit
Is everything I need included in this set or do I need to purchase any additional items or accessories to complete this project?
I found your dual zone DIY units. I will need a 50+ft line set and wiring for the second air handler. Do you offer that? What is the cost?
I am looking at the Mr. Cook 18K 22 Ser, Mini--2 head units
How many 220 circuits will I need to run and What amperage?
I’m installing a 27 k compressor and am having a hard time finding a 35 amp breaker can I use a 40 amp breaker with the 8 gauge wire?
Hello,

We would like to install a MrCool DIY Multizone (9K+9K 2 zone) for a west-facing kitchen (127sf x 8.4ft ht) and west-facing bedroom (147sf x 8.4ft ht). Location is New York (Zone 2). We assume that a 9000 BTU capacity for each room is appropriate. The condenser would be wall mounted on a west-facing wall below a window.

Question 1: Please confirm 9K +9K is the appropriate rating for the specified spaces.

Question 2: We have a 30A / 240V capacity and a 10-3AWG line provided. Will this electrical supply capacity meet the operational requirements of your product?
On the dual zone kit, can the 2nd indoor unit be connected at a later time or do both indoor units need to be connected at the same time?
I'm just thinking about the time I need for installing. Can the system be operational with one unit then connect the second unit later on?

header is 18k 2 zone, bundle description says 3 zone 27k ? looks like model number is also for 27k 3 zone? price shown is $2527.00 which one do you get
Since these are pre-charged, if I add a 16' line to a 25' line, will I need to add refrigerant?
Will each wall unit need it's own condensate drain? One would be easy to cut the 3.5" hole to drain but the other I was planning on installing on an interior wall.
Thanks!
Is it possible to get a 16' line and a 25' line with the dual zone system?
I have two rooms approximately 600 sq ft each. What size btu unit would I need to cover these rooms.
To whom it may concern
Your photo gallery shows line sets and accessories, I assume they are included with this system? Yes or no.
Thank you in advance
This Bundle comes with a 27K - 3 Zone Heat Pump Condenser. Can a third Wall Mounted Air Handler be added at a later date with this system?
Is there any way I could get a 15 foot hose and a 35 foot hose rather than 2 25 foot hoses? 25 foot is way too long for one and not long enough for the other.
can the 27k BTU heat pump condenser be wall mounted on the exterior of the home or in the attic? This is for a second story ADU so there is no ground level area to install it.
Do these units have an OFF position where they're not running? My small house has an attic fan and during certain times of the year I'd rather have windows open with the attic fan on. I've heard these units run all the time in one mode or another.
Hi, Do you charge sales tax if shipped to California
Hi, I'm looking for a MrCool dual zone with uneven sized air handlers. One will be going in a small bedroom, the other will cover the living room and kitchen. The way the house is designed that's about the only way it can be installed.
Are the communication wites included? I don't see them pictured.
Two questions,
Are ceiling mount air handlers available for the DIY system?
Are the multizone units expandable, if I purchase 2 zone could I add a 3rd later?
I would have to mount these on interior walls can the condensate Go up To Cold attic and then outside and down
Since this is a 3-zone 27k condenser with two 9k indoor units, is this safe/efficient to use with only one of the 9k indoor units connected? Or do both need to be at least connected for the system to operate? And along the same idea, if only 1 of the 9k indoor units are operating and the other is "off", will the unit operate as expected with such a low usage of the 27k condenser?
Hi,

I was looking at this 2 zone unit but then noticed that I could get 2 separate DIY 12K units instead for less money. Is there something I am missing?
is this available on your stock ???
I am looking for a DIY that has a 9k head and a 12k head I assume that is possible?
Do you offer a low wall air handler
It says that the unit ships in 1 to 2 days. Can you tell me what the average shipping time takes before I will receive my purchase?
With a Mr Cool multi zone unit can 1 room be cooled, while the other room is heated?
Are you able to substitute the wall mounted unit for a DUCT-12HP-230 with the mr.cool pre-charged line sets?
What is the maximum length of quick connect line that can be used?
What is the size of the head unit
Can the heat pump be installed in an attic rather than on the exterior of my home? There isn't anywhere else centrally located where both rooms can be within 25 feet of the heat pump.
Do the lines only come out of the back of the head unit or can they come out of the end of the head unit and across the face of the interior wall?
What is the lowest operating temperature? Looking to install this dual system to heat/cool my garage. I live in Chicago and it gets quite cold. Friend of mine said the the dual zone compressor can operate at a lower temp that the single zone, is that true? Thanks
