Can I Use a Swimming Pool for a Geothermal Heat Pump System? - Ask the Expert Episode 128

Want to use a swimming pool for your geothermal heat pump system? Think again! Dan Danowski explains why. Video Script Today's question comes from Jeff Johnson, which sounds like a country music singer. "Can I use an in-ground swimming pool for a closed loop geothermal heat pump system? I've got a 16X30 pool that holds about 25,000 gallons of water. It's nine feet deep on the last seven feet of the pool." That's a good idea, it's very different. But no, it's probably not going to work. You need a lot of space for a closed loop. Unless you have like an Olympic-sized pool pond, I don't think it's going to work out. Have more questions? I'm Roger Hayden (the famous motorcycle racer - recently retired). I installed a 5 Ton 16 SEER 2 Stage Variable Speed Goodman Central Heat Pump Split System. Is it possible to change the auxiliary heat from heat strips to propane? Or, can I add a propane furnace to my system?
