Do I need more refrigerant for multiple lineset lengths? Ask the Expert Video Episode 278

I bought a multi zone with 3 airflow units. The lineset lengths for each room will be roughly 20 feet, 26 feet, and 36 feet. How can I tell if I need to get additional refrigerant? The installation manual for your unit is going to tell you how much line the units are charged for, when you will need to add additional refrigerant, and at what length and how much. So always refer to the installation manual, and if you're exceeding what the units are charged for, then you will probably need additional refrigerant. In the manual, there will be a table that says for X do Y.

Hey Dan My question is about an 18k Mr. Cool do-it-yourself system for my basement they're only offering a 25' line set as a bundle. My question is can I change the 18K units line set to to a 16' lineset and if I do do I have to coil the excess outside behind the compressor or could I coil the excess in my basment wall. Regardless if I can't swap for the 16' can I still do what I am asking with the 25' line set ?
