Can I Install a MrCool Universal with a Pre-Charged Line Set and Keep the Warranty? - Ask the Expert Episode 267

Today's question comes from Brian Roth. If I use the MrCool Universal line sets and install the system myself, the MrCool Universal still have a warranty on the equipment? The MrCool Universal is a central heating and air unit from MrCool. Normally, heating and air units are not intended for do-it-yourself installation. The Universal is a quasi-DIY unit. For instance, if you are a homeowner and you do use the No-vac Quick Connect Line Sets, the warranty is still good. However, if you don't use the pre-charged lines and you install it as a homeowner, you then void the warranty. Have more questions? Just ask them in the comments below.

I need to move an installed unit with the pre-charged line set to another location. Is there anything special that needs to be done before closing the valves on the condenser and disconnecting the fittings?

Hello Mr. Ski, I’m looking at getting MRCOOL Olympus Series Multi-zone 36K, split type unit, Model: MULTI4-36HP230V1 that comes with an “uncharged” lineset kit. Is the outdoor unit comes precharged? If not, can I use a “precharge” lineset instead? I plan to install it myself…thank you Mar

The warranty is good! My unit started blowing warm air last summer and after some troubleshooting, iawe sent me a new circuit board for the outside unit. I easily swapped it out and it didn't fix it, then after checking the voltages I discoverer that my thermostat wires from the inside to outside unit had shorted together. I think its where I put concrete around the wires. I just ran a new t-stat wire and its worked great ever since. I'm amazed that my aux heat hasn't came on yet and it's down to 12 degrees so far. I keep my 3600 sf home at 70 degrees. My Sensi thermostat keeps track of I all. Beautiful!

Wanting to get MR Cool based on quality, warranty and DIY. The room is 144sq ft low amount of insulation, has a door to the garage. Last 10 years been dealing window units and i work from home. Image no ac during meetings in Texas. Only heat is what spills in from the house through the door way. Normal 8 ft ceiling. Been quoted a 12k system which is a 1 ton i believe. Isn't this too much for the room ? Any info on sizing, what models to look at and where to get from will be a Big Help. Thanks Stephen
