Today's question comes from Dave. "Hey Dan, It's cold here in New England. Is there anything I can do to limit the time the df code comes on? Is it possible to mount a mirror above the back, that would shine on the back coils? Sounds silly, I know." I don't know Dave. That might work. You're in uncharted territory.

Aren't all heat pumps DF run by timer? My Mr cool universal will run DF at intervals even if the coils aren't covered in frost. I'm in NJ for reference

Is to ok to go out side and urinate on my mini split to help it defrost faster ?

I would imagine that the mirror would have to be strategically placed, if not moving to track the sun throughout the day in order to operate effectively. You can probably increase the effectiveness by using a lense along with the mirror... Be very careful with this as to not create a focus so intense that it creates a fire hazard though. Just my thoughts, probably not very accurate.
