Can I Use MrCool Quick Connect Line Set with Other Brands? - Ask the Expert Episode 226

Today's question is from Paul C. "Hey Dan, which HVAC companies i.e. Goodman, Bryant, etc. use pre-charged fittings on their equipment that will accept the MrCool Quick Connect Line Set?" The answer is none of them. As far as I know, the MrCool Quick Connect Line Set for the Universal series system are only compatible with the MrCool Universal system. I've never heard of any other equipment having those kind of fittings. The only other company I know that uses quick connect fittings like the MrCool Universal ones would be Revolv for their mobile home systems, and I don't think those are compatible. They come from different companies, so I don't think they would work together. If you have any other questions, just ask them in the comments below.

Are there any other manufacturers which make "DIY" units that have pre-charged lines similar to what Mr Cool has in their DIY systems?

Can I shorten my pre-charged line set? (without issues) It is far far too long. Cut & adjust length, braze back together with a copper coupling or tee and possibly add a standard 5/16th charge port on each shortened line to either recharge or pull a vacuum on the adjusted line set. rsm

Hi Dan, Question for you. I'm looking to install a multi zone DIY MrCool in my house. One unit will be placed on a interior wall and was going to have the line-set run down through the interior wall and then under my crawlspace to the condenser unit. My house was built roughly around the 1930's so it is a true 2X4 wall framing. How tight of a bend can the line set be manipulated to make this work or will i have to find an alternative solution? If possible, if this question does make it to your video segment can you show an example?

Is there a recommended bending method for the MrCool Quick Connect lines, especially for tighter turns? Since they already have the insulation installed, a bending tool doesn't seem as practical.

ArroQuip used to make Wiick Connect fittings similar to those used by Mr Cool. Does any company currently make those, or similar quick connect fittings for Air Conditioning systems?
