Can I Use Solar Panels in Alabama? - Ask the Expert Episode 182

This question is an interesting one. "Can I use solar panels in the state of Alabama?" Well, I don't know if I'm the authority you should be asking this, but yeah, I think so. I don't think Alabama has a law saying you can't. And, actually, Alabama would be a good state for solar panels. Solar panels work best if you have a lot of sunlight for a lot of parts of the year. Alabama is a southern state, so it's going to get more sun than say Vancouver, which is not in the South. If you have a rooftop that faces the south, you should put the panels there. If you're looking south, that's where more sunlight is going to hit. In the same train of thought, if you're putting in an air conditioner, don't put the condenser, the outside part, on the south side of the house because you want the sun to hit it less.
