What is an E3 Error Code? - MRCOOL DIY Ductless Mini Split

An E3 error code occurs when the fan speed of your MRCOOL DIY Ductless Mini Split air handler is too low for a certain amount of time. This could be due to a wiring mistake, faulty fan assembly, faulty fan motor, or a faulty control board. Before touching or maneuvering the wires, be sure to turn off the power from the disconnect box for the outdoor unit, or from the breaker box for the indoor unit.

Troubleshooting An E3 Error Code

First, you should check the wiring of the fan motor to make sure everything is connected properly and not loose. It is possible that the fan motor or the control board will have to be replaced. In any case, when you have an E3 error code, it is best to call the MRCOOl Warranty department at 270-366-0457 so they can help you determine the reason for the E3 error code.

An E3 error code happens when the indoor fan speed keeps too low for a certain time. This may be due to a wiring mistake, a faulty fan assembly or fan motor, or a faulty PCB. Try powering the unit off for two minutes, then restarting it. If the unit still shows the error code, shut off the power supply, and rotate the fan by hand. If the issue still persists, please give us a call at 270-575-9595.
