What do I do when my heat pump is making puddles outside? Ask The Expert Video Episode 279

My heat pump outside is leaking a lot of water on the ground, and it's really muddy, and this just started.  Heat pumps create condensation when they're cooling. Air conditioners do too. And they drain this outside onto the ground. So if you live in a really humid area, or it's been really humid in your area recently, that could create a lot of condensation and make it really muddy. There's really not anything you can do to stop that, except turning off the heat pump or air conditioner. But then it would be hot and muggy inside your house. But you could install a french drain around where the unit is draining. Just google french drain, and you can find some guides online.

We can put that on the video list. A condensate pump does connect to the air handler.
