Is A Mini Split Okay On A Wall With Wallpaper? - Ask the Expert Episode 162

A ductless mini split can be installed in a variety of places, but is it okay for the air handler to be installed on wallpaper? Video Script: Today's question comes from John. "I am installing a ductless mini split on a wall that has wallpaper. Should I expect any issues?" Yes, because wallpaper is a sin. People start putting it on walls and it's dumb. Then, instead of taking the wallpaper down when they wanted new wallpaper, they would just put up more wallpaper. Say, you're a young married couple and you buy a new house. You say, we could take this wallpaper down, and you get the house, and you get that wallpaper down then there is another layer under it. Then, you spend three months trying to get 14 layers of wallpaper down. Eventually you kind of go crazy. But no, it should be fine for a mini split. Have more questions? Hey Dan, I need to mount my mini split on an interior wall and my unit on my flat roof. What is the best way to get the condensate up to the roof as well. Thanks, steve

When you're in a situation in which you can't let the condensate drain out via gravity, your best option is a condensate pump. https://iwae.com/shop/refco-gobi-ii-dual-voltage-ductless-condensate-pump-ha18340.html

Make sure you don't block any of the openings intended for air flow.
