When Will the MrCool DIY Multi-Zone Be Available?- Ask the Expert Episode 208

Today, Matt asks, "Hey Dan, when will the MrCool DIY Multi-Zone be available, and will there be a line set option greater than 25 feet?" The MrCool DIY has typically been available as a single zone system. That mean's you've got one interior air handler connected to one outside condenser. So, with the MrCool DIY multi-zone mini split system, you can have multiple air handlers coming off of one condenser. So, you could have something like a MrCool DIY condenser out back and then you've got an air handler in your living room, one in the bedroom, and you've got another one in the other bedroom where the pool table is because you don't have guests--because of the Covid-19 pandemic. There will not be a line set longer than 25 feet, but there will be MrCool DIY line set coupler kits you can just put on the end of the line and connect one line set to another. So, you could couple two 25 ft line sets to get 50 feet, or you can attach a 16 foot line set to a 25 foot line set for 41 feet. You can even couple three line sets together when you need to go even farther. For example connect three 25 ft line sets to get 75 feet. This would, or course, require two MrCool DIY line set coupler kits. The MrCool DIY Multi-Zone mini splits are scheduled to be available around mid-May, and IWAE is scheduled to have them by sometime around May 20, 2020. You can actually pre-order a MrCool DIY Multi-Zone mini split now for shipment directly to you once we get them in our warehouse.

If you have a current generation MrCool 12k, unless it is an Olympus, it would not be possible to turn it into a multi-zone unit.

David, you will need to buy a multi zone outdoor unit (those are all 230 volts). Look closely at detail photos of those units and you can see the line sets connections for multiple indoor units. This company can help you select the right multi zone DIY unit for your space
