Can Multiple Ductless Air Handlers Connect to the Same Line Set? - Ask the Expert Episode 242

Today's question is from William. "Hey Dan, can multiple ductless air handlers connect to the same line set?"

So, he asked this question about the 4 zone MrCool DIY Multi Zone mini split. So, what he's asking is, can you connect more than one of the ductless air handlers to the same refrigerant line set connected to the outdoor condenser.

The answer is no. Each of the ductless air handlers is going to need their own individual line set. So, if you've got a four-zone multi-zone ductless mini split, then you're going to need four line sets. For the DIY Multi Zone, depending on the length for each individual line, you might need more than four, but you will also need to get a coupler kit in that instance, in order to connect multiple line sets together for increased length.

This system comes with 1 air handler. Do you know how many square feet it will heat and cool?

Approximately 1000-1200 sq ft depending on climate, insulation, and other factors.
