The MRCOOL DIY Ductless Mini Split is capable of connecting to your home wifi network. This video shows you how to set up wifi to control the unit with your smartphone or tablet.
The wifi feature of the MRCOOl DIY Ductless Mini Split will allow you to control your air conditioner from your smartphone. You will want to make sure that your router is connected to the internet, that your smartphone is connected to your router, and the unit is properly installed.
Inside the MRCOOL box, you'll find a MRCOOL Smart Kit. Inside this box, you'll find QR stickers, a Smart Kit USB, and a user manual.
First, you will want to install the Smart Kit that comes in your mini split box. Remove the cap from your Smart Kit USB and open the panel of the indoor unit. Insert the USB into the reserve port.
Attach the QR sticker to the side panel of the unit. Make sure it's placed conveniently enough to scan with your smartphone or device. Next, you will want to make sure you have the MRCOOL app installed on your IOS or Android device. When searching the APP Store or Google Play, search for MRCOOL.
Now, turn off the unit. Then, turn on the unit. Press the LED button seven times within three minutes or until the letters AP show up on your unit's display. When the unit displays the letters AP, this indicates it has entered the wifi setting mode.
Now, open the app on your phone. Be sure you create an account and register through the app. Next tap "add device."
Then scan the QR sticker you placed inside the unit. Then select your wifi from the list and enter your wifi password. You should now be able to see the device on the list in your app.
Now you're all set to use one of the coolest features on the MRCOOL DIY Ductless Mini Split. This will enable you to control your heating and air conditioning no matter where you are.
My device is showing offline and I have a new router/password. I can’t seem to add new device or find a way to update existing. How do I reach tech support?
Just installed 2nd MrCool DIY 18K system. Both systems running well . Installed app on my phone. No issue. The booklet that came with the usb thumb drive shows an 'ENERGY' function. I can't find it on the app. Does the 18K model support this function?
(Comment: booklet that came with thumb drive is very difficult to read due to small font. Is there an on-line version available?)
Thanks
Re: Bruce Batchelder
The Energy function displays the monthly energy usage, and yes, there is an on-line version of the booklet. You can get all the documentation that came with your unit from the MrCool website under the documentation section.
I followed directions, installed app on phone, and connected to wifi. When I open app and click on my device, I get an error (3176): The asyn reply does not exist and cannot proceed. Any suggestions?
I've had my unit now running for about five months. Love it! However after 2 or 3 days the unit goes offline. I have to reset the unit by opening and closing the breaker. After a few minutes the unit goes back online and functioning normally. Ofcourse when I most need this option for convenience it's very disappointed. I have to get home and go thru the hard reset or use the remote. What can I do to eliminate this issues?
Thanks
I love the unit just wish the wifi app would connect. My unit actually got an ip address just never finishes configuring to show in the app. I heard a new update was coming out in 2019. Is that true?
I have a DIY-12WMAH unit that is about 3 years old with wifi. Have used it with the app with no problems for 3 years. Got a new phone and the MRCOOL app is not in the IOS App Store any longer and cannot be downloaded. I downloaded the new MRCOOL Smart app but cannot get it to work. It wants me to connect to the smart wifi controllers network and my wifi controller doesn't beam out a network. I have the QR code which I used with the old app to connect. This new app won't take the QR code. I've called both numbers listed above and they both told me to call the other number. SO now what? Why doesn't the new app work with units that are only 3 years old???
