What is the Smallest Mini Split? - Ask the Expert Episode 215

Today's question comes from Richard. "Hey Dan, I've got a 12X20 cabin in the Midwest. It is insulated. What's the smallest mini split unit I can use?" The smallest mini split I've ever heard of was a 6K BTU unit. I think at IWAE.com we have a Mitsubishi unit that's a 6K BTU system. Most are not that small. That's a very small system. Most mini splits are going to be 9K BTU's and above. As far as we can tell, the most popular sized unit is the 12K BTU system. Of course, you could always get a window unit. They're smaller, but they're terrible. Have more questions? Just ask them in the comments below or on Facebook or on Twitter.

The 12k is 20 amps, the 18k is 20 amps, and the 24k is 25 amps. There is no 9k or 30k DIY unit.
