"Hey Dan, I have a 24k DIY MRCOOL split system. Sometimes when it's really hot, the larger of the two lines frost over at the condenser where there is no insulation. It seems to be cooling fine, but is probably a little undersized for what it is trying to cool, so I'm sure it's working hard on days over 90. Should I worry, or as long as it's cooling ok, let it be?"
The main thing is if it is working, then it is probably ok and probably not low refrigerant. What is probably happening is the line is getting a little dirty. Clean the pipe off without using any caustic chemicals, dry it, and then put some foam insulation over it.
