Overview

This 5 ton geothermal installation kit is designed to accommodate a 5 ton horizontal ground loop geothermal heat pump. Our geothermal installation kits are custom bundles we have designed to let IWAE customers easily account for the various parts and accessories necessary for an effective geothermal heat pump installation.

So what do we think are the essentials for a 5 ton geothermal installation? This geothermal installation kit comes with 10 gallons of ProTek PG Plus propylene glycol heat transfer fluid, the medium your geothermal unit will use to move heat in and out of your home.

It has 3000 feet of high density piping. This is the pipe you will bury underground to maximize heat transfer efficiency. It is CenFuse high density polyethylene line, and it will last for decades. If your installation needs more than 3000 feet, let us know, and we can accommodate you.

This geothermal installation kit comes with a 5 circuit insulated header in a straight pattern design and 12 ft of hose kit with male pipe thread to barb 90 degree elbow fittings. Plus, we throw in the great Geo-Pulse Non-Pressurized Flow Center.

There shouldn’t be much else you will need for your geothermal installation. If you do need a few special pieces for your particular job, let us know. We will work hard to get you what you need on schedule and at a fair price, and we can put together special geothermal installation kits in instances where our standard installation kits won't work for you.

Is it OK to use pvc pipe from your manifold to the unit? I have heard mixed opinions, also what is the recommended percentage of glycol in the system? My set up I plan to run the loops in the pond and have the manifold in my crawlspace then run too the unit from there.
I want to heat and cool my house. Heating will be done via radiant floor heating. Cooling i assume will have to be done via duct and a cooling handler. Is it correct?

My house has two levels and each level is 1600 sg feet. The house has many large windows, so will 5 ton system be enough in Portland Oregon?
How deep do the pipes have to be for efficiency? I live in Western New York.
Planning a 5 ton horizontal ground loop for a house in central Ohio. A test hole in the field found ground water at 52" and the soil is a sandy loam. At 52" it's just about all sand. Is there a need to go much deeper than the water table? Any suggestions on "sinking" the pipe before backfill? How close can the loops be when below the water table?
I need to install horizontal ground loops in a side yard. Can the manifolds be in a service pit in the yard? The manifolds would need to be about 80ft. from the heat pump. Can a longer hose kit be supplied?
Would this work for a geothermal citrus greenhouse in cold zones? How much work is needed for installation?
Bought and installed a 5 ton closed ground loop system from Ingram's last summer. The install was straightforward and Ingram's was good to work with. The ground loop install kit came with 10 gallons of ProTek PG Plus glycol. The install took about 88 gallons of fluid. Reading the ProTek specs, it looks like I needed about 20 gallons for this install to push the freezing temperature to about 20 degrees F. Did I calculate wrong or is there a reason that Ingram's only send 10 gallons with the kit?
